Ecofont – less is more

A friend of mine was telling me about an environmentally friendly font, and it sounded like a hoax, but sure enough, there is such a thing. Apparently some people have developed a font that has “holes” in it, and therefore uses less ink. This is supposed to be better for the environment. Appropriately enough, it’s called Ecofont.

The 25th Anniversary Of Apple’s “1984″

CNBC has a nice interview with Mike Murray, who was marketing manager of the Macintosh at the time of the “1984″ Super Bowl commercial. They also link to the video.

What that commercial did was it picked up on a particular vibe of a large segment of of American society. Young people, innovators, creative people, people who don’t want to feel like they’re just stuck in the masses. And we felt that way, but I think we also perhaps underestimated what a strong vibe that is.

Customize a video message from Disney

I’m not sure if this is official (I think it must be), but there is a site where you can enter some information and have a customized video made about your upcoming trip to a Disney Park.

The video is done as if it is a news broadcast. A woman is on site announcing that for the entire year the theme park will be dedicated to one person. The video is a couple of minutes long, and there are clips of various things that have the name of a person that you have entered. It is very well done. It’s hard to explain, but if you give it a try, you’ll certainly find it to be entertaining.

Last night I wanted to download a YouTube video. I don’t have any utilities on my computer that will do this. My normal option is to use Zamzar. The one problem with this, is that sometimes it takes a while to get the email notifying you that the download/converstion is done. While I was waiting, I did a simple Google search, and found KeepVid. This is a site that lets you enter a URL at any of the big video sites, and it will then provide you with a link to download the video. I did this and had the video downloaded before Zamzar got back to me. For the video I wanted, I was provided with two links… one for an FLV file, and the other for an MP4 video.
