My post on Windows Live Mail Beta impressions has generated several comments, the majority of them negative. For some reason people are getting locked out of their Hotmail accounts. I’ve never had this problem and still think that the new Hotmail is far superior to the old one.
If the negative experiences don’t scare you off, and you’d like to try the new hotmail, then visit the Windows Live Ideas page and click on the Sign up link under the Windows Live Mail beta section. You then need to enter your Hotmail address. You do not get an invitation right away. At some point you’ll get one, but it seems rather random. I signed up well over a month before I got my invitation.
I’ve had hotmail.live for a month. I find the preview box too small. I tried to write a email and it stops responding, had to do a ctrl+alt+del to get out of it. It does have a few good points. such as the amount of space to store emails. The sending of attachments, and how fast it opens emails. I like to see the inbox over the preview box. Be more room for the preview box.

Got it working, at last!!!
I had the same problem – Signed up for Live Mail Beta and could not access my Hotmail mails anymore. Installed Firefox after reading some other forums and hurray – could read my mails. Changed the option for Opting Out and everything is back on track.
2 lessons from the Episode : 1.Never use Beta for anything as important as your primary emails 2. Microsoft screwed up

theres all these other ways to get windows live mail without an invite. Theres no point to giving people invites and making them wait if you can get it anyway.
