Last night I received an invitation from Microsoft to join the Windows Live Mail Beta:
I signed up and after 2 clicks my account was switched over. The new interface is very slick. Only the mail portion works in Firefox, but in IE, you get mail, calendar, tasks and reminders. It looks very much like Outlook 2003, and you can even drag and drop messages.
I hardly use my Hotmail account (I use mostly Gmail for web-based mail), but depending on how the “Windows Live” features develop, I could see myself changing. We’ll see…

I downloaded Windows Live Mail and I hate it! How do I revert back to the regular Hotmail?
If you click the Options link, there is then a Beta opt-out link.
Smaller reading space (at least for we dinosaurs still with 15″ monitors), msgs ordered by date are current to earliest, rather than earliest to current, which I think is a better way to manage email. Just have to get used to it, I guess. Get what you pay for, especially with MS.
I opted in and its a day later and my account has not been switched, but I am not able to get into hotmail anymore. How an I supposed to receive email in the meantime?

My account was switched over immediately. All I can suggest is that you do the regular things… clear the cache and your cookies. Maybe try from a different computer. Other than that, you could always try to find some contact address for Hotmail.

my hotmail is rooted aswell. i did the beta bullcrap as well, and it worked for bout 2 days, and now ive been without hotmail for 4 days. Ive tried on 3 computers now, and no luck. Messenger is working fine, but hotmail is messed. is there anyway of reverting back to the old hotmail without needing to access it….i doubt it, but thought id ask anyway. anyone with any ideas would be much appreciated

live mail sucks, i have been almost a week now without my damn email and none of the support are answering tech support
Im having the same problem..signed up and have not have email since….if anyone that has this problem..wants to at least view there email box (u still cant see the mail thou) if u log into http://www.live.com u can at least view what mail is in ur box ( i know..whats the point of that)
what a pathetic piece of of crap they made..and with absolutely no support or help options anywheres..
and for those of you that keep telling us to just OPT OUT..its not an option..we do not have that option..if we are lucky enough to log in..we see a completely different interface then you guys.

I am having the same problem as others. Cannot read my Hotmail mails since I signed up to this Beta crap. Has anyone on this board managed to get a workaround ? Please post here if you have.

for all those having problems with hotmail beta… I just made a discovery. I could log in but wasnt seeing anything on the screen. then by chance I clicked on the screen and holding the mouse button down, selecting everything basically) I just scrolled and scrolled and was suddenly able to see everything in my mail box, only it had all dumped one below the other, including all addresses etc. at least i got to check mail. But I’m still cursing.

The lack of browser compatibility is Windows Live’s biggest flaw - it only works properly on Explorer. When you try it on Firefox or Safari on a Mac, you can access your contact list very easily.
Don’t do it!!!!! Don’t be tempted by live mail, it sucks, none of the support staff actually suggest anything that works. I can’t even see the options box so that I can opt out.
