Google Earth first impressions

Google Earth logo

I’ve had a chance to play with Google Earth briefly, and it seems pretty much the same as the Keyhole software that Google bought out. The user interface has been changed a bit, but the same basic features are there. Of course the biggest change from Keyhole to Google Earth is that Google Earth is free! You can pull up maps of the entire world, and depending on the location pull up hotels, restaurants, street names, etc, get directions, prepare a slideshow-type flyover, and much more. Besides the free version there are versions that costs varying amounts of money. The Plus version allow you to integrate a GPS. The Pro version is for businesses, and the Enterprise version lets you integrate a lot more data.

Hey, the software is free. Go to the site, download it, and install it. Play with it. It’s fun! You can get more details and download it at http://earth.google.com/

  • As suggested I tried to download Google Earth but was informed that it is a Beta version and cannot be downloaded at the moment.

  • I downloaded and tried the Goggle Earth the day it was posted in my Blogs. Then I purchased and ran the
Counterspy program and it picked up a medium to severe key logger that was associated with the program. I didn’t hesitate to uninstall it, even though it was pretty cool to use when I had it.

  • quero o programa

  • me gusta la idea de goggle earth

  • I have used Goggle Earth in my History in the past and the kids love it. Now everytime I go into Goggle Earth it throws me off and reboots my computer. Any suggestions???

  • There are different graphics drivers/modes you can start the program with: DirectX or OpenGL. You can try different modes.
Of course you could always try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Make sure you go to the Google Earth website first to download the most recent version and to read what the system requirements are.

  • Hi All Experts,
Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
