A while back I reviewed Play,
Inc.'s Gizmos98. This was a package that came with some
"toys" for your computer like calendars, games,
calculators, clocks, and a way to lock files and also to shred
them. It was an excellent program, and you can read the review
at http://www.pcin.net/help/software/gizmos98.shtml
When Windows
98 SE edition came out, there were some problems with
Gizmos98 working properly. Play has since issued a patch,
and most recently, they have upgraded the Gizmos program to
Gizmos
Mega-Pak. This is essentially the same program, so for
a full review, please read the pervious review mentioned above.
Gizmos Mega-Pak includes has been updated with the patch,
as well as some new features:
- New Performer Shows
- 50 More Performer Effects
- 50 More Pictures
- 15 More Songs
- An Additional Clock
- Additional Card Games (Accordion and Calculation)
- Great New Themes (Kiki, Blaster Space Chick, UFO and Gameshow)
- Five New Screen Savers
Other than that, the programs are the same. The 240 page
manual is even the same. Anywhere where it says Gizmos98 has
been replaced with Gizmos Mega-Pak, but none of the new programs
or accessories are mentioned.
If you already have Gizmos98, then Gizmos Mega-Pak probably
isn't for you. But if Gizmos is new to you, then certainly
give it a try. They are a lot of fun. You can pick up a copy
of Gizmos98 at your local computer software store or online
for approximately $49.95.
