Windows 98 firewall?

A while ago I received this email from a regular visitor:

Question which should be of concern to many of your readers.
As you know, Microsoft dumped support on w98 and others…which then caused ZoneAlarm to dump their support.
Therefore, which free (preferable) firewall do you guys recommend for w98?

Any thoughts?

I use the last release of Zone Alarm ver. 6.1, not 6.5 which is not compatible with 98. It stll works fine as a firewall, so no real need to “upgrade” to something else.

I have been using Grisoft AVG

I had good luck with Tiny Personal Firewall v2 from Tiny Software for Win98.

It was well rated and I never had any problems.
Staying away from ActiveX will help a lot, also. :)
    saludos,
    Richard.
