Maximize a Program When It Starts

I'm often asked how you can start a program and have it start maximized. In particular, people are most interested in have Internet Explorer start maximized. With IE, it seems that the first instance of it starts maximized, but others start at the smaller window.

Well, quite frankly, as of IE5.5 (and all earlier versions) there is no way to do this. There are a couple of programs that will do this for you:

IE New Window Maximizer

It claims: "A little program that will maximize every new Internet Explorer window
that you open as long, as you are running this program in the background.
It will place itself in the System Tray (by the clock) when you hit "Minimize".

AutoSizer

It claims: "AutoSizer automatically maximizes any window that you specify. For instance, some web browser windows open up in a non-maximized window. Using AutoSizer, you will never have to worry about that because AutoSizer will automatically maximize the window for you. It works on virtually any window, including web browsers, Notepad, etc. AutoSizer stays running in the System Tray (next to the time), so it stays out of your way while it performs its task."
