School system blocks access to teacher-rating site
"Students don't get to grade teachers at school, and Shelby County
educators are making sure it stays that way.
The county has banned the use of school computers to visit a Web site called RateMyTeachers.com,
where students can turn the table on teachers and assess their performance
in the classroom."

Happy Birthday, Google
"A good indicator of success for a company is when new vocabulary is
adopted based on a brand name. In the great search-engine race, Google is
clearly the victor, with "googling" widely adopted as a synonym
for doing a Web search.
While a number of search engines fell by the wayside with the implosion of
the dot-com era, Google has the distinction of not just surviving, but succeeding
to the point that Wall Street is practically begging the company to go public.
Google is expected to IPO at some point; it's just a question of when.
Google turned five years old this weekend, BBC News Online and other media
outlets noted. The four-person team present at the creation moved to their
first office on Sept. 7, 1998, with $1 million in financing, according to
BBC News. Now Google handles more than 200 million and Google has become
a phenomenon that has transcended its online origins."

Music piracy suits could bring backlash
"The recording industry has taken its piracy fight directly to music
fans, suing more than 200 people this week alone. Now comes the hard part:
Persuading the very people it has threatened with legal action to revisit
music stores or sample legal downloading services."

Question
I have recently tried upgrading to windows xp. Once it installed it does
not recognize that I have a cd-rom installed. I then installed it on another
computer and it works fine and gets recognized. It also does not work on
windows 2000 but does on 98. The cd-rom is a everspring 52x cd-rom. Motherboard
is a asus a7v with the latest ide drivers installed. It is found in bios
and when it gets to xp its not found again.
Response
