Remembrance Day
----------------------------------------------------------------
Today in Canada, we commemorate the ending of World War I by honouring
all those who have died in wars for our country. In today's world,
it is hard to understand what those soldiers did, but it is important
to remember. Take some time to visit the following sites:

Internet Book Store Amazon to sell software
----------------------------------------------------------------
Last week, Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/
announced that they would start selling software titles online.
This will allow them to compete against some of the computer software
resellers, as well as put the pressure on other online bookstores.
The greater selection of products you have, the greater chance
you have of people buying from you.

What's up with Microsoft?
----------------------------------------------------------------
Every week, I will provide several links to articles about the
Microsoft case with the DOJ. I will provide no editorial comments,
other than this.
I think that Microsoft should give every company a chance to compete,
but I don't think that they should be under such intense scrutiny
as they are right now. People complain about the Starr report
costing so much money. Well, this DOJ case won't be cheap for
either side, and I don't really think that anything will come
from this. A waste of time!

How hard are passwords to crack? (Part 2)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Last week I talked about a new article on our site about passwords.
I recently read a fascinating article about the statistical possibility
of cracking certain passwords. Well, the article is online now
at http://www.pcimprovements.com/help/articles/passwords.shtml
It is very interesting and has some advice on how to make good
passwords. Check it out.
Enroll in the New User University
----------------------------------------------------------------
Whether you are a new user or one that has been online for a while,
there is a very useful site out there that can give everyone something
new. It's the New User University at http://www.newbie-u.com/.
Their catchy slogan is Helping Newbies Become Knowbies!
There is a Plain English Glossary, courses on the web, ftp, e-mail,
and other topics, as well as a relaxation stop called the Student
Union. If you have some simple questions, this would be a good
place to visit.
Browse your folders a little faster
----------------------------------------------------------------
If you find that you are always clicking on My Computer so you
can look at the contents of the different drives, you might find
it better to drag the My Computer icon to the taskbar. That will
create a toolbar with the icons for all of the different folders
and drives on it. When you want to check out the C: drive, you
just click on the icon on the toolbar. Hint:To make it as small
as possible, you can choose to not have the My Computer icon present,
and you can also choose to have no text showing, just the small
icons.
Well, that's all for this week. Remember that if there is anything that you want to learn about, let me know and I will try to accommodate you.
